IWhat is on your holiday tech wish list?

A survey released last week by Solutions Research Group, based on the answers of 1,200 Americans older than 18, said 35 percent want a flat-screen, high-definition TV.

The top 10 also include a new laptop computer loaded with Microsoft's Windows (20 percent), new digital camera (17 percent), new desktop computer with Windows (14 percent), in-car navigation (10 percent), new cellphone (10 percent), new digital video camera (9 percent), a Nintendo Wii (9 percent), a Sony PS3 (7 percent), and a Blu-ray or HD-DVD Player (6 percent).

Surprisingly, Apple's iPhone — one of the most hyped cellphones — only ranked 15th.

Both men and women listed the same first four items. But when it came to the fifth most-wanted item, men wanted an in-car navigation system (probably because they don't ever want to admit they are lost), and women wanted a new cellphone (Perhaps the stereotype of being chatty applies).

Other than that, both genders were interested in the Nintendo Wii, whereas men also found appealing the other two major game consoles, the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3. The one item that showed up only on the women's list was a TiVo or other DVR recording system.

The kicker is that even though the majority of people wanted a new TV capable of playing high-def, they apparently weren't that interested in the extreme pixel quality that high-definition offers.

The survey said most of those TVs will not deliver true high-definition because only 2 percent of those who wanted one also intended to get a converter box from their cable or satellite company.
