TORONTO -- Canadian phone giants are leveraging their size and scope to prevail among consumers in the emerging digital TV market, while cablecasters are making inroads signing up new high-speed Internet access customers. Those were the key findings of an independent trend research report on Canadian convergence issued Wednesday by the Toronto-based consultancy Solutions Research Group. "Phone companies have greater resources and an additional advantage based on higher-than-average customer satisfaction over their rivals, particularly in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada," Solutions Research Group president Kaan Yigit said. "Cable companies, on the other hand, have the opportunity to leverage their strong value proposition in the Internet broadband area."
