Young Canadians reject the notion that music and movie downloads from the Internet are theft, a new study reports. Only 31 per cent of Canadians between the ages of 12 and 24 consider downloading music theft compared to 55 per cent of Canadians in their 40s and 50s, reports Solutions Research Group Consultants Inc. When asked whether downloading movies constitutes theft, only 43 per cent of so-called Generation Y consider the practice stealing. In comparison, 59 per cent of Baby Boomers said it was theft. According to the SRG study, nearly seven million Canadians have downloaded songs off the Net in the past.
